Life After Death
We know without a doubt that life after death is a reality. Our loved ones have never left. It's just as though they've stepped into the next room for a moment. There, in the afterlife, they're enjoying a life more wonderful and more real than this life, with youth, vitality, and no pain, sickness, or worry. There, they wait lovingly, knowing soon we'll step in to join them.
There is life after death, and it is full of love and reunions with loved ones who have passed away. This life we are experiencing is the dream; our life after death is when we wake up.
Life After Death is a Reality, So We Can Communicate with Loved Ones Living There
Nearly everyone can experience their own afterlife connection with a loved one who has passed from the Earth plane to the next plane of life, without the aid of a medium. Anyone can also connect with the Eternal or Higher Self of a person who is living on the Earth plane, but nonresponsive because of Alzheimer's, dementia, brain damage, mental retardation, or other condition that precludes communication. This website explains three methods of connecting being used successfully today by hundreds of experiencers:
- Guided Afterlife Connections, facilitated by state-licensed psychotherapists who use a highly effective therapy method that brings the person into a state of openness in which the connection can occur. The connection rate in a study of the procedure was 95%. Information is available at http://RochelleWright.com.
- Self-guided Afterlife Connections Using Binaural Beats, that has the same protocol as the above Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure, but with binaural beats in the background of the audio. Binaural beats have been shown to help people relax and enter altered states of consciousness. The most famous of the binaural beats programs is the Hemi-Sync method developed by the Monroe Institute. For an explanation of binaural beats, go to this link: binaural beats procedure. Close the window when you have finished reading to return here. The procedure is free. It is available at http://binaural.spiritualunderstanding.org.
- Nonresponsive Person Connections, connecting to people alive on the Earth plane who cannot communicate because of a physical condition. Participants experience these connections while they listen at home to narrations played over the Internet that guide them into the state of mind in which the connections can occur. The procedure is free. It is available at http://nonresponsive.spiritualunderstanding.org. Not enough people have gone through the procedure yet to evaluate the success rate, but at this early stage, those who have attempted to connect have all been able to do so.
This website also contains accounts of the connections people have experienced. The descriptions of the Guided Afterlife Connections are from psychotherapist notes, presented here with the experiencers' permission. The descriptions of the Self-guided Afterlife Connections are taken from journals written by the people themselves immediately after the connections, presented here with the experiencers' permission. Afterlife and Nonresponsive Person Connections
to Establish New Relationships
The focus of the Center for Spiritual Understanding's work with afterlife connections and nonresponsive person connections is upon helping people to establish new relationships with their loved ones living on the next plane of life or living on the Earth plane but unable to communicate. The relationship changes when someone stops communicating using the body, but it doesn't end. Medium readings, Guided Afterlife Connections, Self-guided Afterlife Connections, and Nonresponsive Person Connections with people who no longer function in a body are means of developing new, different, loving, fulfilling relationships that will continue until the everyone passes on to the next plane of life. Regular spur-of-the-moment encounters and lengthy, planned contacts are parts of this new relationship. The new relationship is fulfilling and filled with valuable insights. People just have to learn how to establish it.
This website is devoted to three connection methods the Center for Spiritual Understanding is bringing to humankind to help establish these new relationships: Self-guided Afterlife Connections, Guided Afterlife Connections, and Nonresponsive Person Connections.
Self-guided Afterlife Connections
The Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure is a free online training program available to anyone, anywhere. Participants most often go through the procedure in their homes.
The procedure was developed by R. Craig Hogan, Ph.D., director of the Center for Spiritual Understanding, an Illinois 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to research and practice in afterlife communications. He co-authored Induced After-Death Communication: A New Therapy for Healing Grief and Trauma and Guided Afterlife Connections: They Come to Change Lives. He wrote the book, Your Eternal Self, called "number one from the standpoint of offering the reader the full gamut of phenomena supporting the survival hypothesis in clear and concise language." He is on the boards of the Academy of Spiritual and Paranormal Studies, Association for Evaluation and Communication of Evidence for Survival, and the American Society for Standards in Mediumship and Psychical Investigation
The Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure teaches people how to guide themselves into a connection with loved ones on the next plane of life. The Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure uses relaxation activities with narrations that are presented in seven training stages. At each stage, the participants learn to become more adept at allowing the natural unfoldment from their subconscious from which they will receive messages from loved ones living on the next plane of life. The training results in the participants' becoming open to the messages coming from loved ones in spirit, culminating in their being able to sit quietly anywhere, without prompts or meditation music, and connect with loved ones now living in the afterlife.
In a study of 22 participants who had gone through at least the first four stages in training, 86% of participants had an afterlife connection. The procedure is now available without charge for anyone who would like to use it.
The research report in Acrobat containing excerpts from participants' journals describing their afterlife connections is available.

Journal Entries Available Online
As part of the ongoing effort to improve the Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure so more people are able to connect with their loved ones, participants fill out journals describing their experiences at the end of each training stage activity. The journals are wonderful, sacred records of participants' connections to their loved ones. Because of the uplifting, heartwarming content of the journals, the participants have agreed to allow us to put some online for other participants and anyone interested in the Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure to read examples of the actual connections.
The first selection of journal entries the Center made available was included in the report about the procedure at the end of the first development and pilot phase in December 2012. Guided Afterlife Connections
The Guided Afterlife Connections procedure can be performed only by a state-licensed psychotherapist. During the procedure, the experiencers have their own connections with their loved ones now living in the afterlife. The method itself does not induce the connections. The psychotherapist is not a medium and has no influence over the nature or content of the experience. The afterlife connections occur naturally and effortlessly between the experiencers and their loved ones, emerging when the experiencers enter a receptive mode, just as sleep follows naturally from relaxing into a comfortable bed. The connections normally unfold in four to five hours. The procedure is around 95% successful.
The Guided Afterlife Connection procedure was developed by Rochelle Wright, M.S., a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional, National Certified Counselor, and EMDR Certified Therapist. She has been a counselor for over 22 years, specializing in trauma.
In a Guided Afterlife Connection session, the psychotherapist helps the experiencer enter a receptive mode using bilateral stimulation, the same process used in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapy method that has been called the breakthrough psychotherapy method of the twentieth century. EMDR has been endorsed by the Department of Defense, Veteran's Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, American Psychological Association, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, United Kingdom Department of Health, Israeli National Council for Mental Health, and Northern Ireland Department of Health.
In bilateral stimulation, the experiencer is gently stimulated on the left and right sides of the body, alternately. These stimulations affect the right and left sides of the brain, causing a reorientation of perceptions. Rochelle Wright adjusted the bilateral stimulation method so that using it with grieving people consistently results in afterlife connections.
Guided Afterlife Connections use two modes of bilateral stimulation: listening to music or sounds that alternate in volume between the left and right ears, and having the participant move his or her eyes rhythmically left and right while keeping the head steady. After the process is repeated a number of times, the afterlife connection occurs naturally.
Guided Afterlife Connections procedure
Guided Afterlife Connections procedure
A study with 45 subjects who participated in at least one Guided Afterlife Connections session found that 95% had afterlife connections. Their ratings of the level of disturbance of memories associated with the person who had passed, using the 10-point Subjective Units of Distress (SUDS) scale, showed that disturbance ratings at the beginning of the session averaged 9.42. After one session, the average of ratings had reduced to 1.41.
Accounts from the psychotherapists' notes describing 26 Guided Afterlife Connections are in the book, Guided Afterlife Connections: They Come to Change Lives, available from Amazon.com.

Guided Afterlife Connections Psychotherapy
The Guided Afterlife Connections procedure can be used only by state-licensed psychotherapists. The reason is that it often leads into deeper psychotherapy for issues that surface during the Guided Afterlife Connections procedure. Those on the next plane of life come into the session specifically to help the participant understand and heal issues that may have caused them difficulty for decades. It helps with issues of grief, guilt, anger, trauma, childhood abuse, other childhood issues, and a variety of other psychological difficulties.
This therapy in which the loved one on the next plane of life participates in the participant's deep psychotherapy has become so common and effective in these sessions that a name has been created for it: Guided Afterlife Connections Psychotherapy.

Nonresponsive Person Connections
The Nonresponsive Person Connections procedure enables people to connect with the Higher or Eternal Selves of people still on the Earth plane who have conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's, brain damage, and severe mental retardation. The procedure is a pioneering effort that is being developed and studied by the Center for Spiritual Understanding.
As of now, three people have gone through the procedure. All had connections with the Higher Self of the person unable to communicate on the Earth plane. You can read excerpts from their journals describing the connections at this link:
